The show centres on DI John Borne (David Suchet), a complex, enigmatic, and highly focused detective within the National Crime Squad (NCS). Unlike local police forces, the NCS was tasked with dismantling organized crime, high-stakes drug trafficking, and international conspiracies. Despite David Suchet’s star power and respectable viewing figures (the pilot drew over 7 million viewers), "NCS: Manhunt" was never commissioned for a second series. There were three primary reasons for its sudden end: High Production Costs: The show was filmed on film (rather than cheaper digital or video formats of the time) and featured high-octane action sequences, location shoots across the UK, and a large ensemble cast including Samantha Bond

and Phyllis Logan. BBC found the cost difficult to justify a second run. Supplied on 2 region free DVDs in a standard DVD case. With artwork printed on both the DVDs and Case Cover.
